Simply Fantastic!

While I'm inclined to agree that "Best of" albums are generally not the best route for experiencing any artist, this one does feature the best sounding mix of "Love Will Tear Us Apart" that you will find. If you are interested in Joy Division, this is a great place to start. There are a lot of standout tracks on this compilation. If you'd rather have their two studio albums, do yourself a favor and still grab this version of "Love Will Tear Us Apart".

Joy division is one of those bands that need to be experienced through their original albums. Get Substance from a used CD rack to make up for anything that might be missing from Closer and Unknown Pleasures instead of this.

If you are here because you are interested in Joy Division, just assume you will like them. Do yourself a favor, grab the single "Love Will Tear Us Apart" from here, then go just get the two studio albums "Unknown Pleasures" then "Closer." At some point you will want to track down the odds and sods double album "Still" half of which is live. Then a live album. But don't waste credits on a best of.

Don't get this

Allegory

Download the real Joy Division albums here on Emusic, "Closer" and "Unkown Pleasures". This is not a band that lends itself to a "hits" record

I have mixed feelings about this album, I like most of the tracks to a lesser or greater extent, but I still find it lacking, the songs just do not blend well when from different albums. or maybe its just me being a long time follower of J/D. and just in case anyone is wondering, the track "New Dawn Fades" is the base of the track by the same name from Moby, who used the melody and form for his song.
