I bought it the day it was released

DarkSock

I could not imagine what JP would follow Defenders of the Faith with. Wellll, I sure as hell wasn't expecting this dreck. Bad. Just.....bad. B.A.D. It sucks donkey logs. My bud and I put it on the turntable, crazed with anticipation, and with each progressive song our faces fell a little more. It blows chunks. And I have a dog named Chunks. I was severely disillusioned with them, and sadly by the time they rallied with "Painkiller" I had moved on. Going back, I'll get it to complete the collection but it's just a bad memory from 1986. WHAT. WERE. THEY. THINKING.

Bottoming Out

Satyrblade

Awful. Just goddamned awful. Aside from a decent title track, this is the bottom of the barrel for a band that started the '80s leading the pack and wound up steamrolled by their own descendants. I bought this album the week it came out; two or three weeks later, it was going over the counter of a used record store, and good fucking riddance to bad rubbish. Thank all that's holy and unholy for Painkiller; if not for that album, my love affair with Priest would have died with Turbo. (Speaking of love affairs, what the HELL is up with that cover? Tacky, tacky, tacky... not to mention - considering Rob Halford's lifetime homosexuality - ironically absurd.

A real disappointment!!!

Not the follow up to DOF that I had hoped. This CD should not even be concidered metal. I appriciate that they were trying out some new sounds, but this is not what I hope for from JP!!! & I hope then never do anything like this again!!!! I'd rather listen to WINGER!!! & I'd rather get shot than listen to Winger!!!

Not the best Judas Priest...

OrkyDoc

This CD is a low point in Judas Priest's career and I've always though one of the reasons Halford started thinking about leaving the band. It is simply too heavy with guitar synths, and not as heavy as their early work. However, I am missing this CD in my collection so I am picking it up now. I like this disc for the title track and Private Property but to be honest I don't remember any of the other songs from this release. I even saw Priest in Baltimore, Md when they toured this release. Krokus opened the show and both band were recording live that night.

They Say All Music Guide

Searching for a way to retool their sound, Judas Priest attempted to accentuate their melodic side on Turbo by incorporating synthesizers and ’80s pop-metal stylings (“Wild Nights, Hot & Crazy Days” sounds more like Poison, albeit with synths). The restrained songcraft sometimes pays dividends, especially on the synth-driven leadoff track, “Turbo Lover,” easily the best song on the record and a successful reimagining of the Priest formula. [The 2002 Columbia/Legacy reissue adds two bonus tracks: "All Fired Up" and a live version of "Locked In."] – Steve Huey
