Seeing June of 44 in their prime, with their stoic silences giving way to explosive ruminative art storms, Doug Scharin breaking drum heads, the convincing earnesty of it all--that is what really colored this record for me and filled in the blanks when at times the recording fell short. But it's a moving document, full of the graininess and neolithic volume of the era. Chug chug toot.
