Some powerful singing and engaging music and stirring duets. Covering a wide range, from traditional to Joy Division. Please listen to the Scottish lament (When I Was No But) Sweet Sixteen.

a truly great recording with each track strong. Superb voice, tight backing with subtle touches, no cliche, interesting lyrically. Reminds me, impact-wise of the great Leige and Leif record by Fairport Convention many years ago. One of my best half dozen records of the year without a doubt.
These guys have never sounded better. And June can do no wrong - an unbelievable treasure of a voice. Now if they'd only tour ...
June Tabor Oysterband what's not to like well wasnt so keen on the last album and an album of covers... mmm ... well tackling one of the most iconic songs of the past 30 years - LWTUA - and pulling it off mightily impressed me ... a magical album
Another incredible album by June Tabor and Oysterband. After 30 years, June's voice is still as beautiful as ever and is a joy to listen to. Her choice of material spans old traditional tunes to covers by Bob Dylan, Joy Division and P J Harvey, and that stunning chestnut Dark End Of The Street. The Oysterband provide an incredible backdrop for June's powerful vocals and the duets with John Jones simply take one's breath away. This is a must have record. Welcome to June's Kingdom where it is anything but Ragged.
I didn't much care for the last album when June joined the oysters, but I am pleased to say this is a much better coming togther. The Oysterband sound up to their normal high standard and although I'm still not mad keen on June, she sounds a little less meloncholic than last time. The best tracks are when June and John sing togther - tracks 2,3,6,7,10 & 11 being the picks.
