Justified Soul!!!!!

isaacmusicman

I had to give it to the guy! I already knew he was the best member of Nsync, but the POP group got on my last nerves. With his first solo effort, Timberlake showed what he was capable of. They will try to tap this as POP music, but it is first rate R&B with some soul flavor. My favorite is "Take It From Here" because my boy Raphael Saadiq produced it, but believe me there is plenty to chew on. Justified Soul!!! PS: Check out "Nothin' Else" and "Still On My Brain".

This is a good album for my daughter. She loves it! I like most of the songs but would not buy them for myself.

ok hipster wannabe a**holes that tell people they like arcade fire but really have never listened to the whole record all the way thru. yes i prefer other artists, but timberlake is actually talented. love it or hate it just accept it. oh by the way pitchfork.com the best music journalism going has timberlake in their top 500 singles of the decade.

Six Degrees of Off the Wall

By Michelangelo Matos, Contributor

It used to be easier to pretend that an album was its own perfectly self-contained artifact. The great records certainly feel that way. But albums are more permeable than solid, their motivations, executions and inspirations informed by, and often stolen from, their peers and forbearers. It all sounds awfully formal, but it's not. It's the very nature of music — of art, even. The Six Degrees features examine the relationships between classic records and five… more »

They Say All Music Guide

With his debut solo album, Justified, Justin Timberlake borrows from Michael Jackson, from the Thriller-era getup and poses to the sharply modernized spin on the classic Off the Wall sound. To be sure, the sound of the Neptunes productions which dominate Justified is the best thing about the album; they have a lush, sexy, stylish feel that is better, more romantic than most modern R&B. Timberlake is a technically skilled vocalist, with a smooth falsetto. The songs are pretty on the surface — apart from some flop Timbaland productions (which he redeems with the slinky funk of “Right for Me”), the sound of Justified works well. – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
