I disagree with the Ruhlmann review above. This is, in my opinion, Akers' finest album, perhaps because "she seems to have pleased herself." The simple piano accompaniment perfectly matches Aker's voice. If you take the time to compare the alternative song versions listed by Ruhlman, you will find reason to "forget the earlier renditions." (But why would you want to forget a good song?) Her version of "Drouot" is better than Barbara's. Johnny Hallyday also has a memorable version of "Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien," but Akers adds to our feeling for the song. Her "Feels Like Home" towers above Linda Ronstadt's performance. Karen Akers is a wonderful singer and this is a beautiful album!
