Call fo the Mystic - Karunesh

Koolaid05

Wow, pretty much sums it up. I enjoy this music in the background, some of the songs give me shivers and that's a good thing.

Just what I was looking for

TxBluzMn

I've looked all over for a more traditional sounding album of Indian music but too much of it out there is more contemporary with electronic beats. This is completely natural acoustic drums, string, and wind instruments. The perfect background for my Yoga and Meditation.

superior relaxation

direwolf0701

not so much for meditation - a bit too busy in composition. BUT, total relaxation and contemplation can be reached listening to this with a nice cup of tea and a darkened room.

Pleasant Rather Than Essential

fussylistener

I had expected great things of this album given the reviews. On first listening I would say that whilst it is nice enough, it isn't essential listening. You don't get much of an idea from the samples, so you do need to listen to the whole thing to appreciate it. I might well try another Karunesh album at some point as it's easy music to have on in the background

Fabulous

I totally agree with the previous reviewer. You have to listen to the songs in their entirety to appreciate their beauty. All the tracks are superb, but the first track just blows me away!!!!

Music for the soul

psm.web

Very good ambient sounds with the touch of oriental and Indian music. The intros for the songs are quiet long, so the 30 sec preview is not enough to get a clue for the songs.I give almost all of the songs a five points. Totally worth downloading.

They Say All Music Guide

While other genre labels like Narada and Windham Hill diversified from their new age roots, Real Music has been consistent over the years in providing nothing but the best music for relaxation, meditation, and spiritual enhancement. Their most notable recordings come from an Eastern Buddhist mindset, with multi-instrumentalist Karunesh leading the pack on the strength of previous discs Zen Breakfast and Nirvana Café. His basic approach to contemplative music involves a blend of exotic textures (bells, chimes, Tibetan bowls, sitar, and Chinese instruments) with easy grooves and rich walls of ambience. The new collection’s trance-inducing instrumentation and sensuous rhythms begins with a few minutes of pure ambience and sitar before slowly introducing a gentle percussive line (“For the Joy of It All”); Avinash’s graceful Indian violin carries a mournful beauty that is also part of the similarly hypnotic, easy-grooving “Monsoon’s Dance.” Bikram’s Basuri flute floats through beautifully in key locations, such as the introduction of “Mount Kailash.” While the uninitiated might feel that there’s a certain repetitive nature to the tracks (which usually begin with sparse instrumentation before the electricity is turned on), the intention is more to invoke a sense of inner peace than to be truly innovative. The title of the richly textured “Zensual” sums up the mystical intent of the thought-provoking exercise. – Jonathan Widran
