BORDERS PERFECTLY IN REFLECTION & RESIGNATION

RidgeBardo

"I hope I dream tonight of that old home place" Without getting too much into M***head references and comparisons and diversions, it must be stated that Kerby allows for expansion and maintains quality. _The Secret Lives of All Night Radios_ plays out like a more personal Kerby; but songs like the 80's-song-lyric-mad-lib "Transistor Romeo" keep it light-hearted enough to keep from becoming overbearing. Kerby's talent for penning a great drunken sing-along rivals contemporaries Lu***o, but lines like, "It won't mean anything" could be shouted just as easily from your La-Z-Boy at 3am as the city streets after the show. There's something sobering in reminiscing, but too much nostalgia can kill a buzz. Kerby knows this and borders perfectly in reflection and resignation without leaving these old songs for dead. These songs have life and we're lucky he shared their secrets with us here. Ridge Bardo (01.24.06)
