The best.
For most, "Gretchen" is THE King's X album. For me, it's this one. Simply superb. The title track is proggish hard rock at its finest, and "Moanjam" is a must hear if you like blistering vituosity. Give this a listen.

The title track drags a bit but I get what they were after. "Legal Kill" is sublime.
I played two cassettes of this to death before finally getting the CD. Side 1 (tracks 1-7) remain the finest, most cohesive, powerful half hour of rock and roll it's ever been my pleasure to listen to.
FHL was a metal landmark, and for die hard King's X fans, it was sadly overlooked by the general public. I always felt like the record company didn't know what to do with a band that was all about substance in an era that was so much about what your hair looked like or how over-the-top your presentation was. Here is an album full of meaty songs that are still rich in melody and powerful hooks, though they may be delivered in subtly complex arrangements. Doug's vocals on songs like We Are Finding Who We Are are deeply compelling and Ty's guitar on this record is among the most unique instruments in all of hard rock. To top it all, It's Love may be the best hard rock song ever; it's at the same time challenging to hear all the subtleties yet still simply catchy. Just Amazing! The fact that eMusic finally got these guys is terrific.
