the perfect Mahler 3?
I am always looking for the perfect Mahler 3 but never seem to find it. I remember a taped recording I made of Tennstedt conducting this in the 80's which was definately in that 'perfect' catagory. This almost matches it. The tempos are a bit hurried in general but the final adgio is profound and a very moving culmination, almost overwhelming. Nearly the perfect Mahler 3 then in my opinion, possibly the nearest I will get!
