Drone metal meets digital noise
KTL, named after a stage piece called Kindertotenlieder by performance artist Gisèle Vienne, is a duo comprised of Seattle-based prolific dronemeister Stephen O'Malley (Sunn O))), Khanate, Thorr's Hammer, Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine, and countless other monikers) and Austrian composer Peter Rehberg, aka Pita, also known as the founder of noise/glitch label Mego. KTL3 is the third installment in their ongoing collaboration. O'Malley's trademark cavernous, sinister guitar drones find their counterpoint in Rehberg's electronic textures and occasional high-pitched screeches, which dominate the second, longer track. As in Khanate, the slow pace of the piece doesn't make it any less threatening. Impressive dark ambience.
