Laurie Johnson's Symphony
I am happy to highly recommend the album, The Musical Worlds of Laurie Johnson (2004), which I have listened to many, many times and have not grown tired of hearing. It is truly excellent. I'd describe it as an orchestral score for a movie that was never made. I stumbled upon this album by searching for the composer, who is better known for composing the theme for the British spy series, The Avengers. Until fairly recently, I had thought he was female, based on the first name. At any rate, I listened to samples and downloaded three of the longer tracks of the Symphony during my 25 free tracks trial period and later downloaded the rest of the album. This one album by itself was largely the reason I chose to continue my subscription. I've long thought that artists who compose music for television and movies could write music without a film, and this album proves it. -- Dr. Hank Heyman, drhank@iname.com, 8/24/07
