Lay Low is the stage name of Lovísa Elísabet Sigrúnardóttir. (So we’ll call her Lay Low, alright?) The songs are a country/folk/blues/jazz menagerie. She has some of the breathy voice of Ólöf Arnalds or Björk, but I put Lay Low in the same category as Loretta Lynne or Patsy Cline.
I thought this was going to be more Emiliana Torini-esque but it's way more country / church music inspired. LOVE this though it isn't my usual bag. Recommend if you like Patsy Cline, Nancy Sinatra, Bjork, Emiliana Torrini and/or Beth Orton. Songs to start with: sweet one "By & By," another sweet one "Last Time Around," and the way more twangy "The Reason Why My Heart's in Misery." Amazing voice.
