A masterpiece, unfiltered and pure
Label: IndieBlu Music / Entertainment One Distribution

This is a muted celebration of a great musician's return from one-armed pianism to the two-handed kind, after an interval of decades. The scraps of Bach, Scarlatti, Chopin and Debussy are entrancing, and his reading of Schubert's B-flat sonata, D.960 is a masterpiece of simple delivery. Fleisher spins the illusion of giving us our music unfiltered and pure.

Refreshing, Relaxing

docdanley

Of my many piano albums, this is among my top choices for listening. Masterfully played pieces, selected to suit my tastes, played with emotion. I readily understood why the album is one of eMusic's Top Choices.

This is a masterpiece by a virtuoso. It is also incredibly accessible to the average person. This will be appreciated and enjoyed by all.

Wonderful sound!!!

The solo piano on this album is delightful!!!! I keep listening the "Sheep May Safely Graze" piece, which is one of my favourite Bach's musics, and can't get tired! The arrangements are great, and Mr Fleisher interpretation reminds me the pleasure I have when tasting a great wine :) Hmmmmmm!!!!!! GREAT!!!!!

A breath of sanity in a mad world.

I experience a rare sense of calmness as the music unfolds. It is as if, in the space of an hour, the soloist lays before us the sum of his musicianship. I feel privileged to hear a recital in which the music is recreated with such insight and naturalness.

sheer joy

So great to see/hear the return of a wonderful pianist. A sheer joy to listen to from start to finish. Imagine what a 5.1 surround SACD of this would be like as it is so good already!!

Sublime musicianship!

I have heard many classical pianists in my 57 years and can say truthfully that this album contains some of the most beautiful and best-recorded playing I've heard. Very replayable.

Pure Crystal !!!

This is one of the most wonderful piano records that I've listen. I don't find words to describe my impressions about Bach and Scarlatti. Listening at them I'm bird, I am ocean and my life is a simple particle in cosmos, in past, present and future. That's all that i can say. Thank you, master, thank you again.

Stunning

SunCat

What a fantastic album, even without the personal story behind it. The Schubert B-flat major is stunning, on a par with John Perry's (the finest recording to date), and if anything even a tad more peaceful. Just stunning. The two Bach transcriptions are pianism at its finest. Maestro, if you're listening: "Please, sir, may I have some more." Keep these recordings coming. (DVD's?) Let posterity keep you forever.

Classical Essentials

By Anastasia Tsioulcas, eMusic Contributor

What is that makes a classical recording something that you simply must own? We're not just talking about a tune that you hear on the radio or in the concert hall that you come away humming and slips your mind a short time later, or even an album that you feel you "should" have, but somehow never get around to actually hearing. Instead, we're talking here about melodies that invade your mind and don't let go.… more »
