You may notice on this disc that there is a version of Sittin' on a Fence. Its the same Jagger/Richards tune as found on the US release, Flowers. These songs, as well as the accompaniment, were submitted by major artist's of the day for the 'up and coming next big thing'. The managers/publishers asked major writers like Lennon/McCartney to 'toss them a bone' from time to time. Call it sub par, but not trivial.
Jimmy Page is only on the first 2 songs. Check the fine print as to artists - recycled product released on a hundred boot albums, e.g. White Boy Blues, etc., Brit blues boom era - some songs may have individual value if you like the genre - the first 2 with Page, and the last 3 John Mayall with Eric Clapton for instance. Listen first.
There were many British bands that swiveled rock's glorious adolescence, but for my nascent psychedelia and guitar drool, the Yardbirds have long held the most resonance. The wonder of first hearing the extended rave-up of "I'm A Man;" the Gregorian chants of "Still I'm Sad;" the eastern swami of "Over Under Sideways Down;" the clarion clang of the harpsichord in "For Your Love" forever changed for me how I would hear rock music.
