Linford Detweiler is one of my top 10 piano players/composers... some others being Mozart, David Lanz, Scott Joplin, George Winston, David Nevue, Floyd Cramer, & Vince Guaraldi. His wife Karin (Over the Rhine) is amazing also.
Listening to Linford's solo efforts (there are three of them) is to hear the spaces in between the sounds (he's one half of the brilliant duo comprising Over The Rhine). Recorded on an old Steinway in the living room of an ancient house, you can hear their dog's claws click-clacking across the wood floors in the background, the soft thump-thump of the foot pedal, and maybe even the old house creaking and sighing in the wind. I'm not sure of that last one. You'll have to listen and tell me what you think.
