This is at this time the best short collection on eMusic of vintage Link Wray cuts. The best single disc still is the Rhino release Rumble:Best Of Link Wray which is unaccountably not available digitally at this time.

As Rolling Stone's Keith Richard's would say about what it takes to be a "rock" guitarist: "You've got to study all the greats like: Duane Eddy, Chuck Berry, Bert Weedon, The Ventures, and Link Wray just for starters." This is a great starter for someone who may be "unfamiliar" with this legendary guitar hero. The seminal tracks are: The Batman Theme, Ace of Spades, Jack the Ripper, and the rock-a-billy standout, Black Widow! Innovators like Link were playing proto-rock, before it even had a name. If you listen to Dick Dale, or the patented Ventures surf/sound you'll recognize the progressive style, that these early pioneers passed-on to groups like the Safaris, Santo & Johnny, and the Beach Boys who liberally borrowed from it. Link Wray blew the world away with his axe, and we lost a piece of rock history with his passing. Highly recommeded!!
The album info says: Genre: Hip-Hop/R&B Style: Soul Huh????????? And why is Billy Childish listed as a follower FIVE times? Is he just that much more of a follower than everyone else? But seriously, if you don't have some Link Wray in your rock and roll collection, you don't really have a rock and roll collection.
the description is a little misleading. these aren't all lesser known early cuts. some of them are well known and some are later 60's. link's version of the batman theme is definitely worth the download.
