Their Best
While it's certainly true that this album is darker than any of their other works in its lyric content, it also marks the high water mark of Jim Messina's production, arranging and instrumental work. If any of their albums can be said to belong predominantly to Messina, this is it. This album includes the most complex exploratory instrumentals that Jimmy ever arranged - and they are arranged; no outer space noodling here - and they are brilliant. If you are looking for Kenny's vocals and songwriting to dominate, check out their first collaboration, "Sittin' In." But if you want to hear the mastermind behind L&M, look no further.
