The best Mahler 2nd yet ?
I'm amazed that noone has yet reviewed this album. As someone who's heard a great many fine Mahler 2nds over the years ( Kubelik, Tilson-Thomas and Bernstein to name just a few ) I find Jurowski's ( live) interpretation a knockout. He's obviously thought very deeply about the music and the orchestral balance, turning an old war horse into a Derby winner ! To cap it all this is almost certainly the finest recording of this work yet. I played it on my iPod the other evening and it was mind-blowing ! Won't be long before I do it all again.
