Really enjoying this!

I'm an old person & this sounds as fresh to me as when surf music was in its heyday. It makes me want to do the Twist!

random great find

The album comes with a pair of 3-D glasses for staring at the cover. Part of the reason why I bought this randomly. Turned out to be great stuff, listen to it lots.

yesturdaygirl

i love this album, it is my favorite (maybe because it the first album of theirs i heard). it makes me want to do a burlesque strip tease in a coffee shop.

Worth checking out, at the least

FankyMaloon

In particular, I dig Squid and Jungleaya, but yes, there are a lot of sleepy tracks on this one. Most that are sleepy are supposed to be that way (Dreamland in particular), but it may not be your bag of tea if you're looking for some ass kicking surf rock.

They Say All Music Guide

Following a Christmas album and a standards-laden outing (with some impressively diverse guest vocalists), los Straitjackets return to their hallmark surf-punk instrumental core with Supersonic Guitars in 3-D. Producer Mark Neill coaxes a bit more grit and grime out of the quartet for these sessions, and the band’s feet are firmly planted once again in their accustomed roles. Even if the themes and riffs are all but played-out 1960s rock and roll cliches, the band never sounds stiff or bored with themselves. Still, for all the swagger and swing, the funky, 30-second-long, tremolo-laced tag at the end of “Can You Dig It?” is by far the most interesting thing happening here. This group has experimented with interesting rhythms in the past, and it’s an avenue that deserves further exploration. Bitchin’ idea to include 3-D cover art with glasses inside, though. – John Duffy
