Good start

Psychsound

Not their best, but a good start. Byrds-influenced. Best songs here are You I'll Be Following and Softly to Me.

Incredible debut by L.A.'s greatest band in 1966

cowboomie

Sure, some would argue that the Beach Boys were the greatest. Others might point to Zappa and the original Mothers of Invention. But for my money, and I was there and I do remember the 60s, LOVE was more reflective of the L.A. state of mind than anyone else. I once ran into Arthur Lee in the garment district at one of the area's hot dog stands. He was about as real as dirt. Very gracious and came across as a guy who came out of the streets to record his reflections on life in 1966 in Los Angeles. Ken Forssi on bass was a monster, listen to My Flash On You for the living proof.

Let There Be Love!

It's been said that if you remember the sixties, you weren't there. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people missed, or forgot, Love's debut album. Released in 1966, this album had a distinctively twangy Byrds-influenced garage band/high school dance style to it, but done with considerably more style than most bands of that era. One particularly notable track is "Signed D.C.," a song about heroin addiction, that practically rips your soul out. This album captures the spirit of the pre-psychedelic sixties perhaps better than any other, and belongs in any serious rock history enthusiast's collection.
