if you collect great female vocalists, Lucinda would be in the top ten. Her range makes this a fav with Malted Milk Blues to Make Me a pallet on Your Floor,

Jambalaya!!

poopiechow

I can't believe I haven't owned this album until today. I've been a huge fan for years and this one slipped by me somehow. Her version of Jambalaya is so unique. This album is the most perfect combination of blues and country. Her voice is one of my favorites. I adore Carwheels on a Gravel Road but that's unfortunately not on emusic!

powerful.... and I'm not a fan

hoboesque

not sure why I downloaded this, but glad I did. this is a voice you don't want to mess with, great selection of lyrics with some super hooks. nice Stones cover in there too (Stop Breaking Down), the title track deserves to be so, and Little Darling Pal of Mine makes unrequited seem the way to be. Jambalaya, with pain, doesn't quite work but the guitar work redeems it. The c/w picking thing going on the background is well done but doesn't intrude. great album, this is real quality. even if you're not really into country music (and I'm not sure that country really describes this, it's sort of bluesy, modern folk, chick, r'n'b... but I guess you'd find it under 'country' in the rack). I'll be listening to this a lot.

Can't Beat Her With A Stick

ltlplanetmaine

Well, she'd write a great song about it as heartbreak and semi-abusive relationships are things she knows. But this chick, this woman, ROCKS and her voice can break your heart. EVERY CD she's done is awesome. She should be much more famous than she is. What a gem!
