+Tribute (Tim, Doobie Brothers, Fa, Roberto & Ma)

My sister bought this CD as soon as it was launched. We used to listen to it almost everyday. It was a relief for my ears, used (against my will) 2 listen 2 \"sertaneja\" (a kind of \"Brazilian country music\") every single day (nothing against, I even like it a little bit, but I was just sick of it). This album brings back good memories from my High School graduation year in 1995 and my peers. Also, I reinforce that many people in the country side of Brazil were used to listen mostly one genre of song everyday (again, the \"sertaneja\"). Thus, to make them start to listen to this album's songs, be it in the radio, car or on the dance floor, was a breakthrough for this artist that was already a big hit and famous, but in need of a revolution with the fall in the albums sellings due to piracy & also with end of the 80's magic era, of which he was part, thus, having to reinvent himself. Roberto Carlos (\"Se voce pensa\") & incidental \"Long train runnning\" (Doobbie Brothers), became a great mix.

The partnership of Lulu Santos with producer Marcello Mansur, the Memê, produced three winner albums, which sold 1.5 million copies: Assim Caminha A Humanidade (1994), Eu E Memê, Memê E Eu (1995), and Anti Ciclone Tropical (1996).
The album pays tribute to Tim Maia, the dean of Brazilian soul music, with “Sossego” and “Descobridor Dos Sete Mares,” two of the songs made classics of the genre through Maia’s interpretations. This whole release consists of new versions (remixes) for old Santos hits, adapted for the dance tracks. – Alvaro Neder
