Intricate beats, hauntingly bouncy melodies and a nightclub chic give this Romanian gypsy-punk band from Brooklyn an identity that thoroughly rhymes with the diversity of the city that spawned them. The tunes, which seem to rise from history like smoke dancing out of a campfire, are at once primal, complex, brainy and thoroughly rock-out-able. Tracks like Dreaming in Turkish and Militsa remind us that before speed-metal there was gypsy punk, while tracks like Kombucha and La Tarde revel in playful hipster nonchalance. Like Gogol Bordello, these guys and gals get the blood moving where it counts. If you're new to gypsy punk, you're in for a pleasant surprise. Enjoy.
