BAM!

Dulceamor

this Album just put him on top of my favorite rappers list! I was never much of a Lupe fan but my friend told me to check out the songs "words i never said" and "Beautiful Lasers" and as soon as i heard those songs i had to get the full album! Now Lupe Fiasco is my second favorite rapper after Eminem! :)

Atlantic Records Dimmed Lasers

BrightLasers

LASERS was originally suppose to be release years ago but the record company did not like the original Lasers album Lupe submitted. Atlantic Records forced Lupe to dumb down his lyrics and make his record more radio-friendly---hence all the poppy songs. There are still a few Lupe style songs (Letting Go, All Black Everything, and State Run Radio). Beautiful Lasers could have been great but the chorus was auto-tuned. The rest of tracks cater to pop-radio and clubs. If you want to hear what Lasers could have sounded like, listen to I'm Beamin, Shining Down, Go to Sleep, What You Want---all could be found on his mixtapes. FnF Up!

Awesome

Geoph

A perfect fusion of modern production and lyrical depth rarely heard in today's Hip Hop scene. For those who just want party and love songs there's a few good ones but for those who long for the days when Hip Hop had a message and a vision Lupe Fiasco delivers truly inspired ideas and thoughts which inspire critical thought and passion - all without forgetting the most important aspect of all - the music rocks. A great album on many levels.

The rhymes are there, and Lupe seems to be there as well, but the beats and the choruses... well... I can't think of any other emcee who's had so many good sung choruses as Lupe, but sadly NONE, and I mean NONE of the ones on this album come close to "He Say, She Say", "Superstar", "Hip-Hop Saved My Life" or "Daydreamin'" The verses are just not worth having to listen to the garbage beats and choruses. The verses are an after thought.

An eMusic Guide to New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest

By Britt Robson, eMusic Contributor

When it comes to programming, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival gets to have its cake and eat it too. The lineup is distinctively reflective of the region's time-honored musical traditions, but because so many styles are bound up in that history — jazz, blues, funk, soul, gospel and rock, not to mention sub-genres like brass bands, zydeco and feathered Mardi Gras Indian hoe-downs — the fest manages to be both redolent of its… more »
