Maestro
This took me back to the late 70s. This guy was my father's favorite calypsonian. I remember when he told me that Maestro had died. I must have only been three or four; I cried. My father was looking at the record. I think he shed a tear too. When I hear these songs, my heart hurts. Cecil Hume aka Maestro brought the fire. And he is gone too soon. These songs teem with a funky Antillean fury. His voice is honest and clean. The lyrics are no frills. The music is full of rhythmic virtuosity the likes of which will never be heard again.
