another good album from magnum
this album has not only the hard driving rock that you will hear in their "Into the Valley of the Moon King " album however there are songs with melodious rock balads too. magnum is a very diverse kind of rock band.

Wow! Who knew! A band now almost written off after two mediocre comeback albums pulls off a near classic! This is solid 4-star stuff, pomp rock quality with emotional vocals..and the production totally rocks! Recommended.
If you hear a few of these songs in isolation you'll like it a lot. The problem is that these guys found a working formula and squeezed every last ounce out of it, not a lot of variety. The whole album is good listening in small doses, but if you listen to every track back-to-back they'll start to blend in together before long.
as a magnum fan for the last 25 years i have to say that this album is one of the best peices of work magnum have done in a long long while, vocally it is a little weak in places but bob catley is getting on in years but the songs are pure quality and they remain one of the few bands that can still bring a tear to my eye, fantastic stuff download it!!
I'm surprised the rating in this is so low at the moment - this is an excellent Magnum album. It rocks, it has plenty of melody, the inventiveness of the instrumentation on teh arrangements is as strong as on any Magnum album and the songs are well crafted. Overall, the album is a joy to listen to - one of the best rock bands around in my opinion.
A welcome return to the myth & magic premise of their earlier work i.e 'Chase The Dragon', 'On A Story Tellers Night' & 'The Eleventh Hour'. Vocally a little weaker than those 20+ year old recordings but for any serious fan of 'Pomp Rock' this is a must purchase. Now tour the U.S. dammit!
