When their sweet and dreamy debut album was released in 2005, Margot & the Nuclear So-and-So's were chamber pop masters who punctuated poignant lyrics with blaring trumpets and groaning cellos. Five years later, the group (led by singer Richard Edwards — no one in the band is actually named Margot) is fiercer, noisier, dirtier. Margot, it appears, has found her edge, and Buzzard is a lovely study in escalating aggression tempered by the quieter introspective moments that the band's fans have come to love.
