A lovely album of standards
You know how it is when you hear really good musicians play? When they don't have to do anything fancy or overreach in any way, where quality is defined more by what they leave out rather than what they put in? Well, this is an album that does that - it doesn't shout when a whisper or a conversational tone will do just fine. Kate Ceberano sings superbly well on this all ballad set, and Mark Isham takes all the solos, filling the space melodically with taste. The whole thing drips with taste and soul. I first saw this reviewed in Tape Op magazine (an indie magazine for recording engineering), and it is very well recorded - you can hear every nuance of the vocals and all the instruments in exquisite balance. Check it out - you won't be sorry!
