Good Foundation

This album is a must for any Metric fan. It is the first of the three recent albums that Metric relies on when touring. Some really excellent stuff.

This album turned me into a fan of Metric forever. These guys are tight, talented, and fun to listen to. Check them out live as well...........they rock!

New new wave at its best

I don't understand how the Yeah Yeah Yeahs somehow hit it big while this band toils in indie rock semi-obscurity. You can't throw a rock in Brooklyn without hitting a band that rediscovered Blondie and just bought a synthesizer, but these guys stand out from the rest because of their songwriting. Tracks like "Combat Baby," "Succexy" and "The List" have the perfect combination of irresistible hooks and a dark edge that keep them from feeling like bubblegum. Definitely worth a download.

You tell'in me no one has reviewed this album? What are you people listening to? Mother mercy! Emily's voice is so sexy, but she has a bite to her, too. Nubeys, listen to Succexy, Combat Baby, Dead Disco, and you will be hooked. And this band just keeps getting better.

There are men singing and women singing and it is rarely less than gorgeous. In order to better understand… more »

They Say All Music Guide

The debut album by Canadian new wave-influenced indie rockers Metric was released in 2003. Over the years, thanks to the band’s successful touring and subsequent releases (all of which have been well received), the album went gold in the band’s home country. A solid debut, the album features fan favorites such as “Hustle Rose” and “The List.” For fans of later Metric work, such as the stellar Fantasies, this makes for necessary listening. – Chris True
