great Brahms concerto
I have only downloaded the Brahms and Prokofiev concertos. What a contrast! Rabin is at his electrifying best in the Brahms with intense rapport with a great conductor in Kubelik. In the Prokofiev he is like a fish out of water and you would never believe this was the Chicago SO. The close recording does not help but there is little sense of light and shade, all is very hard driven and seemed to catch all concerned on a bad day. Still, it's interesting and worth investigating the other works.
