One of the best ever Emo albums

arabbmusic

For me, this is right after Sunny Day Real Estate's LP2. This is a magical and beautiful album. You need to own this ... really.

was there when it happened

big-dan

i ran a club in cleveland where many of these bands played and we were able to see them when they started and when they ended; i love this music, great melodies, swirling guitars; heart felt lyrics, hard not to like if you were from this time and place; glad i was there

End Serenading indeed

RuinsEverything

There's really no reason to make emo records anymore, this album pretty much perfected the genre :) This has continued to grow on me years later and is one of my top 5 all-time for sure. Looking for individual tracks to try? "GJS," "Waking to Winter," "A Letter," and "& Serenading" are all classics in my book.

Emo -- but GOOD Emo

Worth a listen if you're into that sort of thing.

They Say All Music Guide

The posthumous release of this legendary emo-rock recording finds the band with exactly the same style and demeanor of its amazing The Power of Failing. Although the music and feeling are nearly identical, the sharper production gives the record an almost glassy or plastic feel, placing it far below the raw beauty of the band’s earlier work. It gives Mineral’s rather large fan following something to remember them by — although it somehow seems that the memory would have been more precious without this release. This is easily a disappointment; nevertheless, many who loved Mineral will not be able to help themselves from falling for this last release, and it will probably bring them quite a few more admirers who never paid attention before. – Blake Butler
