A quarter-century ago, Mission of Burma put an American spin on British post-punk luminaries like Gang of Four, Wire and Public Image, Ltd., a hat trick that condemned Burma to years of obscurity, as other bands (especially fellow Bostonians the Pixies) fine-tuned the formula, which we now call "alternative rock."

The Noise of Neu!
