This is lovely stuff, played by a large Arabian orchestra. Solid rhythms, gorgeous strings, sinuous flute and other wind parts, it's all there. An enjoyable set to listen to, and I imagine also to dance to, since the music is often upbeat, and has a good amount of variation.
This CD contains several very danceable (and listenable) classic Egyptian dance songs. I especially enjoy Mashaal, Lissa Fakir (this might be my favorite version of this song), Ranet Al Khul Khal, and Qasr Al Shoq. They have that lovely swoony big-orchestra sound. There are also a few nice short drum solos and some earthier Saidi pieces.
