I downloaded this album after listening to the snipits and seeing the other reader reviews - I was hoping for something in a similar vein to Booka Shade's Movements - but I was sorely disappointed. A bit too slow and chill to be labeled techno, this album is still characterized by some of the same relentless minimalism that turned me away from the genre when I first experienced it at late 90's basement raves. There are moments when the album shines, but it is simply not interesting enough to be listened to all the way through (some really trite-sounding vox synths didn't help any either). There seems to be potentital here, but in the end, nothing in this album really coalesced into a workable groove (though maybe that was the point?).
THIS is why emusic needed to exist. Never heard of this, and now I have..WOW! If you like this, check out early WARP label from Steel city UK. Nice one...all of it!
