Mountains, Air Museum
2011 | Label: Thrill Jockey

The Brooklyn duo Mountains specialize in a kind of repetitive, smeared, and endlessly reassembled take on folk music — what pours in undulant waves out of the speakers sounds like Appalachian field recordings remixed by Steve Reich and Ariel Pink and then attacked by primitive glitches. The sound is glacial, and hypnotic, building up in patient swells and cresting with energy. Submit to its pull.

They Say All Music Guide

Experimental duo Mountains return with a new set of tricks on Air Museum.
