  • They Say...

C'est Cheese, the third studio album of the Arrogant Worms, kept delivering fresh ideas for their biting satire. The band makes fun of the over-rational scientist who takes himself much too serious ("Lonely Lab of Broken Hearts"), the aging and super-rich rock star ("Sex, Drugs and RRSP's," containing the hilarious slogan "rock & roll and real estate will never die"), or the Canadian police ("The Mountie Song," mocking "my horse couldn't catch up with a golfing cart"). The music's only task is to serve the purpose, so listeners are in for some schmaltzy country ("Lonely Lab of Broken Hearts"), mockery punk rock ("Sex, Drugs and RRSP's"), Frank Sinatra-like swing ("Dog Food Woman") or nice march music ("History Is Made By Stupid People"). The latter is, together with the gun mania mockery "Let There Be Guns," one of the best moments of the album, containing useful suggestions like "if you want a place in the history books/then do something dumb before you die" or "if your son and daughter seem to be lazy/sitting there and watching bad TV/just remember you should be quite grateful/at least they're not making history."
