dense and magnificent

First review on emusic - just had to offer an alternative to the majority of other viewpoints here. This is my favourite Murcof record. It's not as easy to access as earlier works but for me it's much more rewarding. The arrangements are magnificently subtle and the production is stunning - nothing about this album is 'vacuous'. Maybe others don't like it as it's not as obvious as Martes/Remembranza - but it's definitely worth putting the effort into giving it a few listens. Magic stuff.

disappointing

patrickgarson

Sadly, I think this is a bit of a regression from Murcof's earlier work. Whilst a couple of tracks on the album are worthwhile, the rest will be familiar to fans of Remembranza: Basically, it's seven minute tracks of a cello sonorously going between two notes, with an echo. If you like that, then you will love this album. If you like the more multi-layered, complex work that Murcof is capable of, it will leave you cold.

Excellent

Bluetech

Murcof is transcending the genre barriers that were originally placed around his music. Cosmic indeed!

for me, its awful

kiteboard

i don't understand the accolades this is getting. i like much of ambient/experimental music, but to my ears this is just really bad background music. i downloaded it all, and will delete it all.
