Eccentric Perfection!

Runicen

I was curious to hear this set for ages, but only knew of its availability as a very collectible (and expensive) vinyl box set. For the price, you can't go wrong. The first Neu! album is indispensable listening and, apart from the live EP on disc 5 (depending on taste - I found it kind of noisy and meandering), the quality never diminishes throughout. A lot has been said about Neu!, their cultural impact and their music. Bottom line: this is great music and, at this price, you'd be doing yourself a disservice NOT to give it a chance!

Loved it

Biteme52

What a great buy! It's been years since I could sit and listen to all these songs that influenced so many bands and the music I expanded my head with.

When he finished school, he moved to Sacramento, where he got involved with a local IDM scene with ties to the… more »

No, it's not a great name: "shoegazing." Very few artists who've actually played in that style like the term; Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai has called it "a dumb term made up by clueless... idiots... if someone called us shoegazers, I'd be pretty unhappy." The other leading candidate seems to be "dreampop," which is also not quite satisfactory. But we're stuck with those words, because it's undeniable that there's a certain tendency in rock music, especially British… more »
