Great stuff

PorcupineThief

The "Wouldn't It be Good" acoustic version is worth it alone. The rest of the Cd is very cool.

Talented, underrated artist.

The whole album is absolutely good. Die Laughing is my favorite. I also downloaded his other album You've Got To Laugh.

The best pure pop CD since Crowded House' Woodface. Clever, wise and diverse. Download immediately.

Just TRY to get these songs out of your head

IndieKat

Forget whatever you might vaguely recall about Nik Kershaw's 80s heyday and take this little gem on its own merits. There is some GREAT songwriting here. Be warned, though, the entire album is chock full of melodic choruses that will make you look really silly belting them out at the traffic light. :) For starters, check out the calypso-tinged "Wounded" and "Die Laughing".

What a revelation!

What has become obvious in my short time with EMusic is that one can unearth some real gems that are probably not available elsewhere. One of which is To Be Frank.A stunning selection of hummable tunes with some well thought out lyrics. Nik certainly deserves to be recognised for this fine work. For example take Die Laughing which has an absolutely stunning hook to it and I would defy anyone not to be humming it all day long if they give it a couple of listens.

Still going strong

rob.beattie

Always much more than just another 80s pretty boy, Kershaw continues to produce fine, melodic pop songs with terrific lyrics ("Nobody knows what you mean to me/And nobody's past is history"). Great chord sequences, fine guitar playing and despite his evident hacked-off feelings towards the music industry, definitely worth checking out.

Excellent

I love this album full of melodic rock. The "unplugged" sounding Wouldn't it be Good is an enjoyable version. The other songs were new to me and very well done. Too bad this album never got any airplay because people are missing out on some great songs. This is my favorite download from e-music so far.

classic songwriting at its best

Rev-Spooky

After the inbittered release of "15 minutes" I thought Nik was done with the industry. It's hard for pigeonholed 80's artists to break free of the chains that bind them. "To be Frank" opens with a latin salsa beat and moves quickly through dark themes and pop sensibilities. With straight forward lyrics rivaled only by Howard Jones Nik takes you from apathy to empathy. "All is fair" is one of the best tell it like it is love songs ever. I am hoping for much more past this. Good songwriters never die...they just move to Bath and shave their heads. ( I wonder if Midge hangs with Nik?)
