All of the works on this album are fantastic starting with an electric performance of Hesketh's "Masque". This mixed-meter thrill-ride is just plain fun. For the fan of more "modern" music, "Symphonic Excursions" delivers some ear-bending intrigue. This is followed up by another of Dan Welcher's fine quasi-programmatic works then the unusual but interesting "Sunset Jericho" for trombone quartet and band. The arrangement of "Irish Tune" is a great departure from the classic and "Lads of Wamphray" is one of my personal favorite marches. As is typically the case, Corporon and UNT deliver a showcase of the wide variety of fine wind band music available today.
