"Stalker" (by R Rich and Lustmord) Re-invented

RH3

***** About 13 years ago, Robert Rich and B Lustmord created "Stalker," a "science fiction film soundtrack without a film to accompany it." This recording reinvents/revitalizes that type of soundspace. Northaunt somehow recasts the "stalker" sound-feel with more recent dark ambient elements into a deep forboding but intensely interesting soundscape. Many other artists have travelled this path but Northaunt has revitalize it and made "new" something I thought sucked dry of life. 7 tracks, all good. I recommend it.

This is not a typical dark or black ambient recording. It is more like deep space ambient. The concept of horizons is the unifying theme. Northaunt takes the listener on a journey that surveys cold, dark alien interplanetary horizons on unknown worlds. Initially this recording did not appeal to me, but with several more hearings, I began to really enjoy its dark and subtle atmospherics. Recommended for those who prefer a more nuanced dark ambient, without strident military themes.

It's not spooky as the artist's name might suggest. I suppose the music is indeed "dark" ambient - but more from the fact that (for me) it invoked a strong sense of night-time. These songs are unspoken tales of after dark - and they are presented in crystalline clarity for the listener to explore. Download it and enjoy.
