Very, very good!

This is great stuff! I can't believe it has taken so long for me to find it, especially given the pedigree of the people involved in the band. I'm reviewing this record as an outsider, having not heard this classic band until a few days ago. There's definitely a good helping of Stiff Little Fingers in many of the songs and a strong stylistic link to Swingin' Utters as well as U.S. Bombs. If you like tuneful, uplifting, sing-a-long punk rock, I recommend this highly. I seem to disagree entirely with the All Music Guide reviewer - I think that "Have Nots & Heartbreak" is probably the weakest track here and "Leave Me Alone" is a true classic... but that's just my taste. (One thing - at the time of writing the titles of most of the song files here are are all mixed up).

They Say All Music Guide

Gritty, working-class, melodic punk rock (that sounds more from the early-’80s Cali scene than its watered-down followers) abounds on Rumors and Headlines, One Man Army’s third album. At their best, the band’s crunchy guitars evoke the Descendents or, like on the straight-up, singalong rock of “Have Nots & Heartbreak,” the Ramones. But, Rumors and Headlines is a little patchy — songs like “Leave Me Alone” quickly fade from memory and the chorus and handclaps on “Casualty” push the listener’s patience. Still, when One Man Army is great, they’re really great. “S.O.S.” is a masterful piece of emotional Buzzcocks power pop that would tear up the punk stage. – Charles Spano
