The Runk - Just caught their live show
Wow! Just happened to be in Providence RI visiting my son for the weekend... a friend tipped me off to the show (but he bailed after roadtripping back from seeing Umphrey's McGee in NYC - getting old sucks). Anyway, THESE GUYS ROCKED! You can definitely hear the jam influences of Santana and the Alman Brothers (a completely rousing rendition of Whipping Post to wrap up the night!). I'm planning on DL'g this as soon as my account rolls over. I'm curious if they carry off the "jam" effect in the studio... some bands can pull it off, but only of the calibre of the likes of Carlos Santana or Gregg Allman. If you like your jam music with more emphasis on classing riffs and less on vocals (almost none), give these guys a test. And see them if you're anywhere around in New England (they're out of Boston).
