Stunning set of organ improvisations
Not sure how this stunning set of organ improvisations ended up in the "Rock/Pop" bin instead of "Classical - organ", but perhaps the music itself transcends a simplistic label. It was performed by the composer in 1982 on the resonant organ at the Cathedral of Saint John the Devine, in New York. I have had the disc in my collection for many years, and it would be one of my top "desert island" selections if I were forced to choose. Originally performed late on a Friday night to a group of teens who met weekly at the cathedral, it is small wonder that this music captured the attention of this presumably challenging demographic.
