Re-Recorded? This is absolutely awful!

djfowkes

I've been an emusic member for many years but made the colosal mistake of downloading some tracks off this album to fill in my 60's playlist. Emusic seriously needs to pull this one out or it should be re-retitled, "Mark Lindsay & the Raider Sort of Sound Alikes" if WarmGlass (comments posted below) is correct. Will be deleting the four selections I downloaded. Definitely a waste of money.

this is not Paul Revere and the Raiders this bunch doesn't even know the words. Just saw Revere on an Oldies Cruise and he still rocks!

I was looking forward to downloading several of the tracks on this album. I am glad I listened to them first. They are nothing like the original.

Typical E-Music

Cliph2000

There are much better compilations of this music and I encourge you to go out and find it. The original Paul Revere and the Raiders were a great part of the Rock and Roll revolution of the sixties and seventies. Most people don't know that the McCoys, famous for "Hang on Sloopy" were origally callled Rick and the Raiders and were forced to change their name because it already belonged to Mark Lindsay.

travesty

But I'm going to use this opportunity to encourage rock lovers to go out and get The Essential Ride. Paul Revere and the Raiders were and are, by far, the most underappreciated american rock band. Songs like "Ups and Downs," "Him or Me," "Kicks" "Hungry" are beyond reproach. Even the late period stuff, like "Cinderalla Sunshine", while pure bubble-gum, were magnificent bubble gum. Lindsey had a powerful set of pipes and in their heydey, these boys could bring the rock. If the Monkees could have a critical revival, than these guys should be put in the Rock Hall of Fame.

Rerecordings

warmglass

Rerecordings, made in the early 80's and originally issued as "The Great Raider Reunion." Only Mark Lindsay of the original group participates. The songs aren't terrible (except for the disco versions at the end, which I could do without), but they are definitely remakes.

They Say All Music Guide

While the cover picture is of Paul Revere and the Raiders looking as they did in the late ’60s, this album was rerecorded. Don’t waste your time or your money. – Curtis Zimmermann
