Paxton — not a band, but rather the name of a multi-talented pop singer-songwriter — blends glam-rock with classic ’60s guitar-pop on his eponymous debut album. Although some of the songs demonstrate a bit too much of his influences (Lou Reed and David Bowie, in particular), Paxton has enough wit and melody to make it worth investigating for serious pop fans that like catchy melodies with provocative arrangments and lyrics. – Stephen Thomas Erlewine
