great live band gets it right in the studio

adamwayneparks

As much as I've enjoyed seeing Brock and the boys in concert, they are one of the few 'jam'/improvising rock groups out there that can really capture their live chops in the studio. douglas258 is right, Three Weeks does stand out and is one of the group's finest compositions and jam-vehicles, but vocal-less tracks like Perihelion, Sundog, Astro Monkey, Teakwood Betz, and Robot Waltz better shows their ability to patiently build to a gorgeous crescendo several times within a single song. When Brock does sing, however, his lyrics are cutting, emotional, and to the point. The grooves and rhythms enhance his lyrical messages. The band's name perfectly describes their sound as they latch onto a groove, milk it, and then reverse into a fresh one. Love the interplay of the electric/slide guitars with the piano/synth. Love these guys.

This is all I listened to for a few months. I really love this album. It's mainly instrumental, as you might guess, but the vocals add nicely to the mix. It's unusual to me in that it has a major instrumental groove that runs throughout, but still has a positive, upbeat feeling to it.

P Groove is so hot, and their first studio effort is definitely no slouch at all! This was one of the first emusic albums I downloaded, and I never looked back. This album is solid from start to finish, and has great textures that develop throughout the tracks. P Groove is definitely somthing special.
