Moving

I learned about Peter Bradley Adams from a duet he did with Sara Bareilles. I am very glad. This album and this artist are great. Los Angeles is the best known from this album, a favorite of NBC's Brian Williams. He's an amazing songwriter and is overdue for stardom. Always and Under My Skin stand out, as well.

Brilliant, amazing, incredible.

Adams' growth as a solo artist is breathtakingly clear in his sophomore release, "Leavetaking." "Gather Up," his first album, was largely recorded in his apartment; given free reign in a studio, his incredible musicianship shines. Listen to 'Los Angeles' and 'Ohio' for two different, but compelling examples of just that. Layered instrumentation, earnest vocals and compelling lyrics are combined to produce a beauty of an album. Don't miss out.

you close your eyes and fade into his voice...romantic sounds from that heal your soul - this one stays in the cd player - over and over again

nice voice, nice ideas, but some of the minimalist production gets a bit soporific... best tracks: The Longer I Run, I'll Forget You...

In the best and most beautiful way. Thank you Peter, this is such a soulful piece ... I loved it.

They Say All Music Guide

Roots rock that leans more towards the easy listening side, which could also very well possibly appeal to the young pups due to its modern production — you could certainly say that’s a fair assessment of the second full-length effort by Peter Bradley Adams, 2008′s Leavetaking. In a time of popular music where an increasing amount of new releases are becoming more and more slick, it’s a pleasant surprise to hear stripped down music — focusing heavily on Adams’ breathy singing style and understated guitar and piano playing. This aforementioned approach that Adams specializes in is probably best sampled on the album opening ditty, “The Longer I Run,” while he also offers such “late night listening” tracks as “Keep Us,” and even replicates Rufus Wainwright’s signature vocals (that is, if Wainwright was a guitarist rather than pianist) on “Under My Skin.” Leavetaking would provide the perfect soundtrack at your favorite local coffeehouse. – Greg Prato
