An excellent flutist, Peter Guidi (a bop-oriented player) often hums through his horn to create chords and dissonant sounds à la Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Guidi plays bass flute on three songs during this CD and switches to alto flute on “Serenata,” otherwise performing on the standard flute. Accompanied by pianist Michel Herr and bassist Riccardo del Fra, Guidi is in excellent form throughout this swinging set, with the highlights including “Be My Love,” “O Grande Amor,” “Swinging Till the Girls Come Home,” and “More Than You Know.” – Scott Yanow
